"Nestoras I. Poulakos : Adversities (2008)" [Translated by Yannis Goumas - 2008]

ELEUSIS

I feel cold
when I spew
cigarettes and drink
and next to me
death smiles
maliciously, it seems.
I slowly cool off
when I spew
liquids and love
and masked Charon
steers the boat,
with me the only passenger.
I am dying,
I can feel it,
it was foreseen
by the sick advisers

of eternal humiliation.

*

I wander as if lost
in a bustling city.
You and I.
Drunken with sex,
getting back
at my love
with a glamorous whore
who sleeps with souls
from the netherworld.
You.
And me.
Holidays in my unknown self.
Hated
by human beings.
Dispersed

in the vanity of bygone magic.

*

Sick
and even more pleased
with what luck has left me.
Uncompromising
and conduct-wise
irreproachable
without a magnet.
I recovered
without a heart and didn’t know it
and love too I felt
and want more.
I foolishly
yielded
to another girl.
I was surprised
to sleep soulless
and find death.
But I left
here for good.
Take me,
I want to fall
continent in the void.
I don’t know…
I don’t know…

It was sweet and it died.

*

Unfulfilled romances
innocent loves
dead souls
that never,
but never
will they find themselves
where they want to be,
where they think they belong.
There was and still is
A and A
or rather
A and A
two different women
for the same man.
They fell in love with him
and want him like crazy.
And he won’t say no.
He is turned on
when all together
and feels for them,
he says he loves them
but they’ll never make it.
Fate had so decided.
People should obey her,
she is shrewd.
regardless that affairs
and lovers thereof
detest her.
There was A and A
or rather
A and A
and still are.
And they love him.
But

he believes in fate.

MOZART

I want you
and if you don’t hear,
Odysseus had said it.
And came Sunday.
But life’s net
had spread out
thus the kiss
was shamed.
Of course, the soul
of a diffident affair
will perish in infinity.
And you’ll burst
into tears
without a why
and yet what?
You are absent and…
…are absent,
but I’m absent
and the universe laments.
With no idea, wrong.
You’ll be back, I know,
do you know?
Listen!
Odysseus has also written
that life doesn’t end this way
so you suffer.
You think I’m not suffering?
But I don’t forget
and await.
The night suggested something,
a love affair with it
and love

will forget our story.
